Prices tumble for slow-selling Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e Scorpionissima with up to $23,000 cut from the drive-away price of both models.
Electric Cars
Fiat Australia has slashed $20,000 off the asking price of its slow-selling 500e electric city car, with buyers now able to drive away in one for just $38,990.
This is the second time the Fiat 500e has been on special since launching in Australia in 2023, with last year’s promotion knocking the price to $49,990 drive-away.
The full recommended retail price of the model is $52,500 before on-road costs for the sole La Prima variant, translating to about $58,180 drive-away in Victoria.
Of note, industry data resource Redbook lists only the 2023 version of the Fiat 500e, with no 2024 or 2025 models, as a global production pause was initiated last year due to oversupply and underperforming sales.
The new price makes the Fiat 500e now more affordable than all bar the entry-level BYD Dolphin (priced from $29,990 before on-road costs), the top-spec GWM Ora GT ($43,990 drive-away), and the base MG 4 Excite 51 ($37,990 drive-away).
Fiat’s hotter Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is also on special, able to be had for $43,990 – or a saving of around $23,000 from its full retail price of $60,500 before on-road costs.
Again, this is the second time the Abarth 500e Scorpionissima has been on sale, with prices cut to $51,990 drive-away last year.
Like the Fiat 500e, the Abarth 500e Scorpionissima is also a model year 2023 (MY23) car that released that year, but sits atop the Italian brand’s pint-sized electric vehicle (EV) hierarchy as a limited 219-unit run launch edition – many of which have not sold and remain in dealers.
A Stellantis Australia spokesperson told Drive the promotional pricing is in reaction to a changing electric car market, which is seeing the introduction of more affordable models from China in Australia.
"As part of our ongoing review of product positioning and in response to evolving market conditions, we’ve adjusted the price of the MY23 Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e to deliver even greater value for customers," the spokesperson said.
"Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e offer a unique, stylish, city-focused EV for Australian customers."
The 500e is powered by a single electric motor, sending 87kW/220Nm to the front wheels for a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 9.0 seconds.
With a 42kWh battery fitted, the diminutive hatchback has a claimed driving range of 311km when tested on the WLTP standard, and can utilise up to 85kW of DC fast charging to recoup 0-80 per cent of the battery in around 35 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Abarth ups to ante to 114kW/235Nm, cutting the claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time to 7.0s, while the same 42kWh battery yields a 252km range on WLTP lab testing.
Aside from the high-voltage components, the Fiat 500e also sports 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, a wireless smartphone charger, a panoramic glass sunroof, heated front seats, and a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Equipment highlights in the Abarth 500e Scorpionissima include 18-inch alloy wheels, Alcantara sports seats, metal pedals, and brand-specific Sound Generator to mimic the aural sensation of a petrol-powered hot hatch.
The Scorpionissima variant also boasts a numbered digital certificate of authenticity, ‘Abarth’ side decals, and is only available in two exterior colours – Acid Green and Poison Blue.
Last year, according to sales data, Fiat registered 117 examples of the 500e in Australia, while in 2023 – the year the car was launched – 166 models were sold.
The Abarth 500e meanwhile, including the non-limited Turismo grade priced from $58,900 before on-road costs, amassed 77 and eight sales in 2024 and 2023, respectively.
In 2025, to the end of June, Fiat has sold 60 examples of the 500e, and 12 Abarth 500es, meaning each respective total in Australia is 343 and 97 units each.
The promotional pricing for both the Fiat 500e and Abarth 500e Scorpionissima are applicable until September 30, 2025 or until stocks last.
