Tesla has dropped the Enhanced Autopilot package – adding assisted lane-change and automatic parking technology – from its new-car price list in Australia, as it goes all-in on its more advanced Full Self-Driving suite launched last week.

Owners of Teslas with older 'Hardware 3' cameras can continue to purchase the $5100 upgrade, but it has discontinued the option for Model 3s built since September 2023 and Model Ys built from late January 2024, which run 'Hardware 4'.

Enhanced Autopilot (EAP) includes assisted lane changes activated with a flick of the indicator stalk, plus hands-free parking, and two versions of the Summon feature, promised to navigate the car through parking areas without anyone inside.

The option package disappeared from the Tesla new-car order page last week to coincide with the public release of Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised for Hardware 4 vehicles.

Whereas EAP requires drivers to initiate highway lane changes and low-speed parking moves – before the car takes over – FSD is a door-to-door system intended to operate without driver intervention, but with their supervision, in nearly all environments.

Full Self-Driving Supervised is the company's most advanced semi-autonomous driving technology available globally, rolling out to Australia and New Zealand last week as the first right-hand-drive markets to receive it.

A timeline for older Tesla vehicles with Hardware 3 camera technology to receive access to FSD has yet to be published.

Owners of Hardware 4 vehicles with Enhanced Autopilot can upgrade to Full Self-Driving for $5000 outright or, soon, through a subscription model, priced at $75 per month in Australia.

It is about half the price of the full FSD cost, which is $10,100 when purchased outright, or once the subscription becomes available, $149 per month.

Tesla says the Full Self-Driving subscription is coming "soon", but it is yet to publish a release date.

All certified pre-owned vehicles currently listed on the Tesla website are sold with Enhanced Autopilot, with one new Model 3 offering Full Self-Driving at no extra cost.
