Nissan's high-perfomance Nismo division has turned its attention to the new Y63 Patrol four-wheel drive, extracting nearly 370kW – more than a Nismo Z sports coupe – from its GT-R-derived V6.

The 2026 Nissan Patrol Y63 has gained the Nismo high-performance badge – with more power, sharper handling and sportier looks – and it could come to Australia for the first time.

The success of Nismo versions of the outgoing V8-powered Y62 Patrol has seemingly prompted Nissan to expand the flagship variant's reach, now destined for the US as the Armada Nismo.

Nissan Australia has not confirmed the Nismo variant for local showrooms, but it has not ruled it out, either.

"It’s very exciting to see the unveil of Y63 Patrol Nismo," a Nissan spokesperson said in a media statement.

"Australia is confirmed as the first right-hand-drive market for Y63 Patrol with orders due to open in late 2026. We will confirm specification closer to the launch."

Powering the Patrol Nismo is an upgraded version of the Y63's 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V6, now with revised programming and "careful fine-tuning of valve clearances".

It produces 369kW/700Nm in the Middle East – up from 317kW/700Nm in the standard model – but only 343kW/700Nm in the US.

A retuned sports exhaust system has been fitted for more noise, boosted inside through Active Sound Enhancement software, plus Nismo-tuned electric power steering and adaptive air suspension.

New 22-inch forged alloy wheels from Japan's Rays are exclusive to the Nismo, wrapped in a "higher-performance" Bridgestone Alenza all-season tyre compound.

Styling changes include a new front fascia with a larger grille and red lower splitter, unique side steps, wider wheel-arch flares, a new rear bumper with Nismo branding and red accents, an extended rear spoiler, and a rear fog light said to be inspired by Formula E electric race cars.

The brake calipers are now finished in red, but it is not stated if they are any larger than those of the standard Patrol.

Inside, there are black quilted leather seats with red suede-like inserts, Nismo branding and adjustable front-seat side bolsters, alongside aluminium pedals, multi-colour ambient lighting, and a Nismo steering wheel with a red 12 o'clock stripe.

Buyers can choose from Stealth Grey and Everest White exterior colours with or without a black roof, plus Black Diamond single-tone.

The 2026 Nissan Patrol Nismo is now on sale in the Middle East, alongside the standard Y63 launched last year.
