Cupra is offering its turbocharged Leon V hatchback for a similar cost to an entry-level Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla to clear final stock in Australia.
The turbocharged Cupra Leon V hatchback has dropped to a new low in Australia to clear final stock ahead of the imminent arrival of a facelifted model.
Cupra Australia has confirmed remaining Model Year 2024 (MY24) stock of the Leon V will be available for $35,990 drive-away, down from $53,590, equivalent to entry-level small cars from Toyota, Mazda and Kia.
The Leon V features a 140kW/320Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering more performance than the Mazda, Kia, Toyota and Volkswagen.
Its 0-100km/h acceleration time is claimed to be 7.2 seconds.
"The Cupra Leon V run-out offer out-points vehicles in the smaller light hatchback segment [such as a Mazda 2 and Toyota Yaris] while out-driving demonstrably less powerful small hatches such as the Kia Cerato, Mazda 3 and Toyota Corolla, for less," the brand said in a media release.
Standard equipment includes 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive dampers, a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen, satellite navigation, wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless phone charger, and a heated steering wheel.
All stock is fitted with the usually optional panoramic sunroof and Leather and Sound Package, which adds leather sports bucket seats, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat with memory, memory function for the side mirrors, copper dashboard stitching, and a nine-speaker Beats audio system.
The facelifted 2026 Cupra Leon is due in Australian showrooms this month, with revised styling, updated technology, and an overhauled line-up including the addition of a wagon body style.
The Leon V has been replaced by the less-powerful Leon S – which starts from $46,990 before on-road costs – with a 110kW/250Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It also loses the outgoing Leon V's multi-link independent rear suspension for a simpler torsion-beam design, along with its adaptive suspension.
