The most expensive new car sold to date by Cupra in Australia will be a plug-in hybrid family SUV offering 110km of claimed electric driving range.
Cupra has completed the roll-out of its Terramar mid-size SUV range with the introduction of the VZe plug-in hybrid, due in showrooms in November 2025.
Priced from $77,990 plus on-road costs, the Terramar VZe will become Cupra's most expensive new vehicle – above the electric Tavascan VZ ($74,490) – and the most powerful in the Terramar line-up, with a 200kW combined power output.
The claimed electric-only driving range is rated at 110km, and combined-cycle fuel consumption is rated at 0.5 litres per 100km, based on lab testing which relies heavily on battery power.
Unlike the 150kW Terramar V and 195kW Terramar VZ, which are both equipped with all-wheel drive, the VZe reverts to front-wheel drive, via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Specifications mirror those of the Terramar VZ, with 20-inch black and copper alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, matrix LED headlights, a ‘supersport’ steering wheel with heating, heated front seats with driver’s memory, and deep burgundy leather trim.
Three-zone climate control, 12-speaker Sennheiser audio, and a power-operated tailgate with kick sensor are also standard.
Infotainment is handled by a 12.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and head-up display.
The plug-in hybrid Terramar utilises a 19.7kWh battery capable of 50kW DC fast charging or 11kW AC charging.
The 85kW electric motor is combined with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine for system outputs of 200kW and 400Nm.
Cupra claims the Terramar VZe can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 7.3 seconds, 1.4 seconds slower than the 195kW Terramar VZ.
The Terramar VZe is priced from $77,990 before on-road costs, with drive-away prices varying by state: $82,490 in Queensland, $82,990 in the ACT, South Australia, and Tasmania, $83,490 in NSW, $83,990 in Victoria, and $85,490 in WA.
The next model down, the 195kW Terramar VZ, starts from $68,200 plus on-road costs, or $73,490 drive-away nationwide.
Optional equipment for the Terramar VZe includes a panoramic sunroof ($2000), Century Bronze matte paint ($2900) or Dark Void premium paint ($620), with Glacial White, Midnight Black, Cosmos Blue, Fiord Blue and Timanfaya Grey available at no extra cost.
The Terramar VZe plug-in hybrid will arrive in Australia from November 2025.
