To really see a wide brown land like Australia, you need to leave the highway far behind. The Mater Cars for Cancer lottery offers the chance to win a custom off-road beast, designed to take you to the farthest corners of the country in luxury and comfort.

This custom Toyota LandCruiser Military GXL, featuring more than $180,000 worth of custom mods, is part of the Mater Cars for Cancer 'Built To Break Free' first prize package, valued at $450,088.

Starting with a naked chassis and built from the ground up by Queensland's Outback Customs, this Toyota LandCruiser is packed with off-grid upgrades and can't simply be bought off the shelf.

This one-of-a-kind LandCruiser tows a luxurious Austrack Talawana X15 Hybrid off-road camper, along with $100,000 in shiny gold bullion thrown in for the ride.

While offering the chance to get behind the wheel of this custom Toyota LandCruiser, the Mater Cars for Cancer lottery supports critical Australia cancer research and assists with the development of world-leading treatments.

Cancer continues to take a heavy toll on Australians, with the annual number of diagnosed cases increasing by 93 per cent over the last 25 years and expected to surpass 200,000 a year by 2034.

The Mater Foundation has been helping to fund crucial Australian cancer research for more than 20 years, supporting ground-breaking medical research and leading patient care services in the community.

Last year, the Mater Foundation provided more than $37 million in funding for projects across Mater Health, Mater Education and Mater Research – resulting in improved treatment, care and outcomes for all.

Every Mater Cars for Cancer ticket sold supports Australia cancer research and helps provide world-leading treatment options in the fight against cancer.

Supporting Mater Cars for Cancer helps change the lives of women living with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer, through supporting the work of Mater researchers.

Professor John Hooper and his team are making remarkable strides in the fight against ovarian cancer. The culmination of 24 years of dedicated research in this field has led to a groundbreaking phase one clinical trial of a new ovarian cancer theranostic targeting agent, to help determine how far a patient's cancer has spread.

"Ovarian cancer for so long has been thought of as a silent killer, diagnosed at an advanced stage with limited treatment options," Professor Hooper says.

"Thanks to research, we're offering patients improved and more individualised treatments, and hopefully with this research earlier diagnosis as well, which will be game changing."

Along with supporting such important research, the Mater Cars for Cancer lottery offers the chance to drive away with this one-of-a-kind Toyota LandCruiser Military GXL. The LandCruiser is designed around Outback Customs' handcrafted Series 4 custom tray and canopy, says Outback Customs Business Manager Rebecca Zielinski.

"At Outback Customs we don't mass-produce anything, no off-the-shelf options you would say, it's all about the unique handcrafted fabrication process to each specific tray and canopy," Zielinski says. "This ensures no attention to detail is missed, allowing for a perfect custom finish for every client."

"We've custom-fitted this New Toyota LandCruiser V8 GXL Dual cab with everything for living completely off the grid, to ensure you're fully self-sufficient as you travel the countryside."

The LandCruiser's canopy includes a full power system, thanks to a complete Enerdrive Power System featuring a 2000w inverter and 200Ah battery charged by solar panels.

Along with powering the onboard fridge, the system offers standard 240-volt outlets for plugging in all the latest mod-cons, ensuring you can enjoy freshly-brewed coffee every morning and cook the perfect dinner every night.

When it comes to staying hydrated, there's also pressurised plumbed water thanks to a 165-litre storage tank.

On top, the Bush Company AX27 rooftop tent and 270 XT Awning fold flat on the roof.

"The Bush Company roof-top tent offers an extra level of freedom and comfort for when you want to leave the camper behind, push the envelope and really explore the unknown, yet still enjoy the comfort of your own bed," Zielinski says.

Underpinning everything is the upgraded suspension, thanks to a 4200 kg Tough Dog GVM and 2-inch lift, perfectly matched with the custom LandCruiser and camper.

Stepping up from the standard suspension, it ensures the LandCruiser is ready and able to cope with the demands of hauling the custom tray and canopy, as well as towing the camper.

While Outback Customs' modified Toyota LandCruiser offers absolute independence, the Austrack Talawana X15 Hybrid offroad camper ensures the ultimate in creature comforts.

There's the luxury of a king-sized bed, accompanied by an internal ensuite with shower and toilet supported by an electric/gas hot water system. Roof-mounted air conditioning keeps you cool in summer, plus there's a well-equipped kitchen with internal/external cooker and sink, along with a 95-litre fridge.

Powering all this, the camper features a Redarc BMS30 Battery Management System with 2000w Inverter, and six 100w roof-mounted solar panels.

A Mater Cars for Cancer lottery ticket puts you in the running to win this amazing custom Toyota LandCruiser and camper for braving the outback, all while supporting critical Australian cancer research to help save lives.
