Mahindra outsold Renault, Jeep, Peugeot and Fiat in Australia in 2025, with the XUV 3XO contributing to an 11.6 per cent increase over the previous year.
The Mahindra XUV700 was the brand's best-selling model in Australia in 2025, according to newly released sales data from the brand.
In a media release, the Indian brand said it "retailed" 4653 vehicles in Australia between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, an 11.6 per cent increase over the 4170 vehicles it says it sold in 2024.
A Mahindra Australia spokesperson could not disclose the sales results of each model – XUV 3XO, XUV700 and Scorpio – but told Drive the XUV700 seven-seater was its best seller.
"This growth has been delivered despite the XUV 3XO contributing only six months of sales, following its Australian launch in July 2025, highlighting strong momentum across Mahindra’s established and new model lines," the company said.
"The growth since the 3XO launch has been an amazing 42 per cent."
Mahindra's figures, Tesla and Polestar sales from the Electric Vehicle Council, and the FCAI's VFACTS data yield a total market volume of 1,245,690 for 2025, up 0.3 per cent from 1,241,457 in 2024.
The combined data – which does not include Cadillac, Ineos, Smart and XPeng as they do not report their sales – sees Mahindra rank 30th, slotting between Mercedes-Benz Vans (4731) and Renault (4569).
In addition to Renault, Mahindra outsold other established brands, such as KGM SsangYong (4116), Chevrolet (4113), Ram (3271), Jeep (1585) and Peugeot (1350).
Mahindra sales are expected to grow in 2026 with a full year of sales for the XUV 3XO, an updated XUV 700, and the return of the Scorpio after it was placed on hiatus due to the original model not being fitted with autonomous emergency braking, which has been mandated since March 2025.
Further growth will have to wait until the Mahindra Pik-Up ute returns in its next-generation form, expected later this year or next year.
