The GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV has had another price reduction – making it now $10k cheaper than when it launched.
The plug-in hybrid (PHEV) GWM Cannon Alpha ute range has had prices slashed again for September, with the entry-level Cannon Alpha PHEV Lux now priced from $53,490 drive away for ABN buyers, a saving of $4000 on previous pricing and $10k less than when the ute launched in February this year.
Price drops aren’t limited to the Lux, with the range-topping Cannon Alpha PHEV Ultra now priced from $60,490 drive away, also a $4000 saving.
This latest price drop, applicable to ABN holders only, makes the Cannon Alpha PHEV significantly more affordable than the two other plug-in hybrid utes – the $57,900 before on-roads BYD Shark 6 and $71,990 before on-roads Ford Ranger XLT Hybrid.
Powered by a 180kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 120kW electric motor, the Cannon Alpha PHEV offers a combined output of 300kW and an electric-only range rating of 115km (NEDC).
It has a 3500kg tow rating, GCM (Gross Combination Mass) of 6745kg, but a payload of only 719kg due to the weight of the electric system.
The BYD Shark 6 offers a combined output of 321kW with a 170kW electric drive and 135kW/260Nm 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The Shark’s tow rating is 2500kg, and it has a 790kg payload and 100km electric range rating.
Ford’s hybrid Ranger pairs a 138kW/411Nm 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 75kW electric motor for 207kW combined output and a 49km electric range rating. Like the Cannon Alpha, it has a 3500kg tow rating but a larger payload of 830kg.
