The Cupra Leon Sportstourer VZe has gained the VZx hatch's Extreme Package in Australia ahead of the arrival of the VZx AWD wagon and the Ve PHEV hatch.
Cupra has added its Extreme Package to the Leon Sportstourer VZe plug-in hybrid wagon, joining the Leon VZx hot hatch.
Now available to order for $7600 – equivalent to the added cost on the VZx hatch – the Extreme Package for te Leon Sportstourer VZe adds Brembo front brakes, front 'CUP' bucket seats, matrix LED headlights, dark gloss interior accents, side skirts, and an extended rear spoiler.
However, as with the Extreme Package for the VZx hatch, the front 'CUP' bucket seats omit a front-centre airbag, meaning it isn't covered by the five-star ANCAP safety rating applicable to the rest of the range, based on testing conducted in 2020.
Taking the Sportstourer VZe's price from $69,990 to $77,590 before on-road costs, Cupra Australia said the Extreme Package will be available exclusively as a build-to-order option as a "direct response to strong customer demand".
The Sportstourer VZe with the Extreme Package is the newest entrant in the Cupra Leon range, which received an update in late 2025, including the addition of a wagon body style to join the hatchback.
Due in the middle of 2026 are the Leon Ve plug-in hybrid hatchback and the all-wheel-drive Leon Sportstourer VZx, with the latter being a spiritual successor to the Volkswagen Golf R wagon.
The Sportstourer VZe features a 130kW 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine matched to an 85kW electric motor for a 200kW/400Nm combined system output.
It has a 25.8kWh (20kWh useable) lithium-ion battery, with a WLTP-rated 121-kilometre electric-only driving range.
Plug-in hybrid wagons currently on sale in Australia are limited to the Cupra Leon Sportstourer, the Audi A5 Avant and the BMW M5 Touring, with the BYD Seal 6 Touring expected to follow later this year.
