Technology and safety upgrades are likely on the way for some of Toyota's smallest models.
The 2026 Toyota Yaris and Yaris Cross are set to receive larger infotainment screens as part of interior upgrades announced for the city-focused models in Japan.
Toyota has confirmed the Yaris and Yaris Cross will receive a 10.5-inch infotainment display in higher-grade models, up from the 8.0-inch screen previously offered, with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Drive has contacted Toyota Australia for comment on plans for the revived models in Australia.
The Yaris will change from a cable-operated hand brake to an electronic parking brake with a hold function, and will gain a front centre armrest with storage, both already standard in the Yaris Cross.
New colours and a special edition have been announced for Japan, but are yet to be confirmed for Australia.
The current Toyota Yaris is on sale from $28,990 before on-road costs for the Ascent Sport Hybrid, while the SX Hybrid is priced at $32,390 before on-roads, and the top spec ZR Hybrid is $34,590.
Toyota Yaris Cross prices start at $31,790 for the GX hybrid front-wheel drive, and range up to $39,930 for the Urban all-wheel-drive model, all before on-road costs.
Both vehicles are powered by an 85kW 1.5-litre three-cylinder hybrid petrol engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission.
The last update for the Yaris and Yaris Cross was in 2025, when they gained a low-speed pedestrian warning sound and new features on select model grades, including front and rear parking sensors on base models.
Updates in 2024 introduced revised safety features, a new front grille design, new badging, and a tweaked colour palette, with the Yaris moving to being exclusively hybrid-powered to match the Yaris Cross.
Toyota Australia has been contacted for comment, but has not confirmed if these changes are coming to local cars or if they will incur a higher price.
