A larger battery with faster charging and a longer EV range, plus additional features, are new for the Geely Starray EM-i after less than a year on Australian roads.
Geely has announced an Extended Range version of the Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid SUV with a longer electric driving range, faster charging and lower claimed fuel consumption.
The larger 29.8kWh battery pack has been added to the top-of-the-range Starray EM-i Inspire for Model Year 2027 (MY27), increasing its price by $1500 to $41,490 plus on-road costs.
There is no price or battery change for Geely's entry-level Complete grade, which is listed at $37,490 before on-road costs.
The Extended Range introduces a 29.8kWh battery – as used in a Guinness World Record last year – up from 18.4kWh, boosting the claimed electric driving range in WLTP testing from 83km to 136km, and hybrid range from 943km to 996km.
DC fast charging has increased to a maximum of 60kW, up from 30kW, for a claimed 30 to 80 per cent charge time of 16 minutes, down from 20 minutes.
Geely also claims that the Inspire grade's fuel consumption has dropped from 2.4L/100km to 1.4L/100km.
The Extended Range uses the same 73kW/125Nm 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and 160kW/262Nm electric motor as the regular version, driving the front wheels.
The Starray EM-i range gains a 5.0-metre-long charging cable, a towing preparation kit, and trailer stability assist for Model Year 2027.
New for 2027 on the Inspire grade are massaging front seats, alongside the 19-inch wheels, 13.4-inch head-up display, 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and other features already standard.
The Starray EM-i Extended Range offers a suite of safety features, including autonomous emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centring assist.
The 2027 Geely Starray EM-i Extended Range will be available in dealerships from late May.
