Chery has expanded its large plug-in hybrid SUV offering, the Tiggo 9, with the Elite front-wheel drive (FWD), which will act as an entry to the brand's flagship model.
The Elite FWD is fitted with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and dual-electric motor plug-in hybrid powertrain, producing a combined 225kW/450Nm.
It is matched to a 19kWh lithium-ion battery, allowing up to 1250km of claimed range with a full tank of petrol and a full battery, and 90km of all-electric driving range based on NEDC testing.
Chery says the model is aimed to appeal to a wider range of buyers, who prioritise urban driving and do not need AWD.
Tiggo 9 Elite FWD features include a 360-degree camera, six-way power-adjustable heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 15.6-inch infotainment system touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.
Sound comes through an eight-speaker Sony sound system accompanied by built-in satellite navigation, 50-watt wireless phone charging, Chery voice command, colour-selectable ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof.
On the outside, it features a power tailgate, puddle lights, and LED headlights, tail-lights and daytime running lights (DRL). The Chery 9 Elite FWD rides on 19-inch alloy wheels.
